MENTOR MINUTE
The magic hiding in your silence

"Be alone, that is the secret of invention; be alone, that is when ideas are born."

— Nikola Tesla, Inventor and Electrical Engineer

Your brain does its best work when nobody's watching.

Tesla figured this out while tinkering alone in his workshop. Edison had teams of people. Tesla had silence and his own thoughts bouncing around his skull. And that dude invented alternating current while Edison was still trying to make direct current work with an army of assistants.

There's something powerful about being alone with your ideas. Not lonely. Alone. Big difference. When you're surrounded by people all day, your brain gets lazy. It starts looking for the path of least resistance. What does everyone else think? What's the safe answer? What won't get me laughed at?

But when you're alone, your brain has nowhere to hide. It has to actually work. It has to dig deep and pull out the weird ideas. The ones that might be brilliant or might be bonkers. You won't know until you explore them. And you can't explore them when Brad from accounting is asking about your weekend plans.

The best entrepreneurs know this. They carve out time to think. Not to scroll through social media pretending they're doing market research. Actually think. About their business. About their customers. About what's not working and what could work better.

Most people are terrified of being alone with their thoughts. So they fill every second with noise. Podcasts. Music. Videos. Anything to avoid sitting in silence. But that silence is where the magic happens. That's where your brain connects dots you didn't know existed.

Here's your challenge this week: Schedule 30 minutes of complete solitude. No phone. No computer. No distractions. Just you and a notebook. Think about one problem in your business you've been avoiding. You might be surprised what comes up when you give your brain permission to actually work.

MASTER AI
Get the most out of ChatGPT’s Deep Research

This tutorial shows you how to use ChatGPT's Deep Research to automatically browse the web, analyze dozens of sources, and generate structured, cited reports for market, customer, or competitive intelligence.

Step-by-step:

  1. Open a new chat in ChatGPT, click the + icon, and select Deep Research to activate the agent.

  2. Write a research prompt describing your goal (e.g., "Conduct market research for household robotics and identify ICP, pain points, and distribution strategy"). Answer any clarifying questions it asks.

  3. Submit your request. Deep Research will browse the web for 5–30 minutes, analyze sources, and build a fully cited report you can track in real time.

  4. Review the final report for insights, trends, and competitor data. Export it as a PDF or link. You can attach it to a custom GPT for ongoing intelligence.

Pro Tip: Use Deep Research for projects that need verified data. Give detailed context and clear objectives to get a comprehensive, actionable report.
